The GeeRob simply secures the kerbstone by specially engineered metal end claws or the ingenious front and rear clamp device. The kerbstone is placed into position by releasing a handle- mounted lever. There are no powered components or hydraulics to maintain or replace. “A standard kerb weighs 60kg,” explained Spyder Engineering’s Sean Reeve, “this means that current Heath and Safety legislation prevents two persons raising a kerb without the use of specialist lifting equipment,” contended Sean.

The GeeRob is a very compact unit and can be transported in a small van, alleviating the need to use heavy trailers or large vehicles. It can be made ready for use in a matter of moments and requires minimal routine maintenance. The versatile GeeRob lifts kerbs from front to rear or at each end and the heavy-duty pneumatic tyres make easy work of uneven or rough terrain.

“We originally developed this product in cooperation with a national utility contractor,” continued Sean. “They urgently required a piece of equipment that would ensure that their operators complied with the legal requirements, but would also enable a single person to replace individual kerbstones without having to resort to renting expensive dedicated plant,” stated Sean. “The outcome of this collaboration was the development of the GeeRob.”

The GeeRob will handle most types of standard kerbstones including; half-battered, bull-nosed, splayed square and profile.

Spyder designers have also developed an add-on manhole and slab lifter attachment. This optional accessory is fitted in minutes and enables the GeeRob to swiftly and safely lift most types of manhole and paving slab.

The GeeRob has been tested to 100kg, in accordance with the Lifting Equipment & Lifting Regulations 1998 and has SWL of 65kg. When packed for transit, the GeeRob has the concise dimensions of just 66 x 90 x 70cm and it is delivered with a one-year limited warranty. Replacement parts are available from the manufacturer.

Spyder Engineering expects keen interest in the GeeRob from plant and tool hire firms, utility contractors, road repairers, local council workers and landscape firms.
